Wolverhampton Wanderers failed to finish the top six of the Championship this season.

Despite winning on the final day of the 2014-15 campaign on Saturday, Wolves finished outside the playoffs.

The Wanderers defeated already-related Millwall 4-2 at Molineux, but finished a spot behind sixth-placed Ipswich Town due to an inferior goal difference.

Nevertheless, it was a successful season for Wolves, who gained promotion to the Championship from League One at the end of the 2013-14 campaign.

Kenny Jackett’s side won 22 of the 46 Championship matches this season, drawing 12 and losing 12. Wolves scored 70 goals and conceded 56.

The players were still disappointed, though, and understandably so. After all, they had worked had this season and had given their all.

However, the Wolves stars remain confident of launching a challenge for a top-six finish in the Championship next season (see below for their comments on social networking site Twitter)

There is every reason for the Wolves fans to be optimistic about their chances of making the playoffs next season and perhaps even winning the title.
