Tottenham round-up: Early team news and Michel Vorm hints he could leave

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Manchester City to White Hart Lane for the last Premier League action of the weekend.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently sixth in the table while City are second, ahead of Arsenal only on goal-difference as things stand.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Tottenham will be without full-back Ben Davies after the Welshman was ruled out for the rest of the season. With Danny Rose doubtful, Vlad Chiriches has been tipped to play on the left of defence.

As for City, they will be without midfielder Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany and Stevan Jovetic.

In other news, the Sunday People reports that Tottenham’s back-up goalkeeper Michel Vorm is considering leaving the club after just one season.

The Netherlands international signed from Swansea City last summer but he has played second fiddle to Hugo Lloris.

“Once the season is over I’ll sit down with the club staff and my agent to weigh things up,” Vorm said.

“I signed a four-year contract last summer, but I don’t see myself sitting on the bench for that time. I’m too good a ‘keeper to do that.”

Vorm is certainly too good to spend the majority of his time at Tottenham as an unused substitute, but if doubts remain over the long-term future of Lloris, the North London club would be wise to keep hold of him for a while yet.
