Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino says City's Joe Hart was the difference

Tottenham Hotspur's manager has been speaking after their 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester City this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking following his side’s 1-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester City, in comments later published by the club's official Twitter account.

With Manchester United faltering in their pursuit of a top-four finish, this was Tottenham’s chance to keep their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League alive. But it was not to be, with Sergio Aguero scoring the only goal of the game for City with just under half an hour played.

Tottenham had plenty of chances to score themselves but just five of their 21 goal attempts were on target and they could not get past City goalkeeper Joe Hart.

It was Hart that Pochettino singled out after the game, suggesting the England international was the reason Spurs fell short.

“I am very disappointed with the result because the performance was good,” the Spurs boss said.

“It’s difficult to explain. Our performance was good but we were up against Joe Hart.”

Whatever the reason for Tottenham’s defeat, they must now regroup and focus on their remaining three matches, starting with a visit to Stoke City next Saturday.

After that Spurs host Hull City before travelling to Everton on the final day of the season.
