Tottenham Hotspur fans debate whether Mauricio Pochettino should remain the manager

Mauricio Pochettino left Southampton for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2014.

Mauricio Pochettino was appointed the Tottenham Hotspur manager in the summer.

The Argentine boss arrived at White Hart Lane with a strong reputation, having done a remarkable job at Premier League rivals Southampton.

Much was expected of Tottenham this season, but things have not gone according to plan.

At one stage this season, Spurs were in with a chance of winning the League Cup and the Europa League, and finishing in the top four of the Premier League.

While the North London outfit did reach the final of the League Cup, they lost to London neighbours Chelsea.

Serie A outfit dumped Spurs out of the Europa League, and it now looks highly unlikely that they will end up in the top four of the Premier League.

There have been some positives, though. The rise of Harry Kane, Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb has been a marvel to behold. Tottenham’s high-pressing game has also been enjoyable to watch.

However, this season has been largely a disappointment for Spurs, and many of the fans seem to blame Pochettino for it.

Others, though, believe that the 43-year-old has done well in his debut campaign at White Hart Lane and is the right man for the job.

Here are the thoughts of Tottenham fans on the issue (the comments were posted on this article: Brad Friedel explains why Mauricio Pochettino is the right manager for Tottenham Hotspur).

Marcus Higgins: “We can't go on changing managers every time we get a dodgy result or two, and every team gets those, we have to stick with this guy and give him a fair trial, and more importantly he MUST be allowed to bring in the players he wants… There are signs that Poch can be a great manager, he's getting us into Europe again despite having to fight on numerous fronts, something that has crippled Everton this season.”

Robohereok: “Sorry but he will never be as good as HR or TS, but he is a nice guy all the same and new that he couldn't get in the top four, and if it was not for the supporters pushing him to bring HK into the team, we would have been sitting on the bottom of the table. Yes he is a nice guy, but that doesn't mean that he is a good manager, as managers are not there to be liked.”

C.O.Y.S: “I hope Poch is the right man to take us forward because we can't keep replacing managers, it's not getting us anywhere. I wasn't a Poch fan and would've had Frank De Boer or even Benitez instead, but he needs a decent transfer window to bring his type of players in and then we can judge him then.”

Mr. Greaves: “Simple answer : No. We tread water at best all the time we have him.”

Wesley Evans: “I like him but the players that came in this summer have been absolute let-downs. Fazio stambouli and Ben davies. Davies in particular is a joke at nearly £10m. I hope poch didn't choose these. I still think the future is bright with him in charge though.”
