Spurs player ratings v Manchester City: Lamela shines, Mason a liability

Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City at White Hart Lane. Here's how their players rated...

Hugo Lloris - 6.5/10

Quick off his line but slipped in the first half for a moment that could have been costly and was fooled by Sergio Aguero's cool finish for the goal.

Danny Rose - 7/10

Was out of position for the goal but some will argue it was not his fault as he wasn't expecting Tottenham to lose possession. Other than that, received heavy praise for a good display.

Jan Vertonghen - 6.5/10

Run of the mill - not outstanding, not too bad.

Federico Fazio - 6/10

Lambasted by many Spurs fans once again but actually dealt with a pressure situation well against Aguero after around 20 minutes and this was not the Argentine's worst display for the north London side by far, although he was also out of position for the goal.

Eric Dier - 7/10

Admitted after the game he should have scored a header when he was unmarked but otherwise impressed, making some great passes while being out of position.

Nabil Bentaleb - 6.5/10

Was booked but showed good energy throughout.

Nacer Chadli - 6/10

Not particularly noticeable for Spurs against Manchester City, without having a particularly bad game.

Ryan Mason - 4/10

The fall guy. Mason should have done way better when one on one with Joe Hart and was at fault for the goal. It's no wonder many Tottenham fans are questioning his place in the side.

Erik Lamela - 8/10

For once, Tottenham's best! The Argentine made a great start but went too narrow as the game progressed. He still displayed a great work-rate, whipped in great deliveres and prompted a good save from Hart late on.

Christian Eriksen - 6/10

Didn't influence the game and many Spurs fans are calling for him to be dropped. He needs a rest.

Harry Kane - 6.5/10

Threatened a lot and was unlucky not to find the net. But this is what the 21-year-old will have to get used to next season - defences trying to mark him out of the game.

Paulinho 6/10

The Brazilian came close with a header after being introduced in the second half.

Mauricio Pochettino also brought on Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado. Neither are good enough options to change a Premier League game.
