Phil Neville: Fabricio Coloccini was an 'absolute disgrace' against Leicester

The BBC pundit was highly critical of the Newcastle captain.

Who do you turn to when you need leadership?

For Newcastle United, it clearly isn't manager John Carver. And, according to Phil Neville on Match of the Day, it isn't captain Fabricio Coloccini either.

Indeed, the BBC pundit was highly critical of the Newcastle skipper, branding 'some players' an 'absolute disgrace' and proceeding to namecheck the Argentine and highlight a number of his individual errors.

Neville also criticised the skipper's lack of fight, singling him out as even more of a let-down than the man that was sent off Mike Williamson.

The former Manchester United and Everton defender said on BBC football highlights show Match of the Day: “Some of those Newcastle players today were an absolute disgrace. I look at the captain Coloccini, he started the rut and Newcastle lost their shape.

“You look at him for leadership but there was no fight in him. That’s your captain. He loses the ball easily. You can’t do that.”

The Magpies are now in dire straits. Carver's men have lost no less than eight games in a row and there appears to be no win on the horizon.

The sides below Newcastle are now catching up with the Tyneside outfit and they could soon find themselves in the bottom three.

A lack of fight and leadership at the club is palpable. Is it all going to end in tears or can the St James' Park outfit just about stay up?
