Ronny Deila reveals Celtic players laughed at Nir Bitton

Nir Bitton scored a brilliant goal for Celtic against Dundee in the Scottish Premiership on Friday.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila has told the club’s official website that Nir Bitton was mocked by his teammates for trying long-range efforts throughout the season.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder had tried to score from distance on many occasions this campaign, but he has failed.

However, on Friday, Israel international finally found the target, scoring one of the goals of the season in the 88th minute of the Scottish Premiership encounter against Dundee away from home.

Bitton’s goal was Celtic’s fifth of the game at Dens Park and wrapped up a comprehensive 5-0 victory, which saw the Bhoys edge closer to winning the league title.

After the game, Deila revealed that Celtic teammates have been laughing at him for being too adventurous with his shots over the course of the season.

“He has tried it many times this year, so the players have been laughing at him for a long time and he bounced back tonight,” the Norwegian told Celtic’s official website. “It was a nice goal.”

One suspects that the Celtic players were just teasing Bitton for his efforts over the course of the campaign and did not mean any malice.

The former FC Ashdod star is not known for his goalscoring skills, and he will probably be relishing his strike against Dundee for a long time.
