The former Arsenal star’s future has been highly speculated on in recent weeks, with Sky Sports quoting the player as saying recently that he wanted to remain at West Ham beyond his initial loan spell.
However, his wages and hefty asking price could make a permanent move to Upton Park difficult despite the club’s long-term plans of moving into the Olympic Stadium.
Song has plenty of qualities to offer Europe’s biggest teams, and therefore it’s no surprise to see fellow teams such as Liverpool and Inter Milan linked, as per the Metro.
Yet, according to reports in Italy, it appears AC Milan have made the first move in terms of trying to acquire him next season as his agent was spotted at the San Siro ready for talks.
“The presence of Darreb Dein, the agent of Song, didn’t go unnoticed on Wednesday night at San Siro to Milan-Genoa. The truth is that the Rossoneri asked about Cameroonian midfielder owned by Barcelona and whether there is a chance of getting him on loan,” the report states.
The 27-year-old has made 25 Premier League appearances for the Hammers this season, the most he has recorded since his final campaign with the Gunners.
Song’s performances in the second half of the campaign have been somewhat inconsistent, prompting questions of whether his intentions are to stay in East London or make a move elsewhere.
