Report: Chelsea lead race for alleged Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette

Chelsea are said to be in the box-seat for a player reportedly on Arsenal's radar.

According to a report from the Sun, Chelsea currently lead the race for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The 23-year-old is enjoying a sensational season in France, where he has 30 goals in 37 appearances this season.

A previous report from the Daily Star linked Arsenal with a move for the player, who former Gunner Thierry Henry once described as “extraordinary” in an interview with Le10 Sport, but the latest report suggests it is the Blues rather than their London rivals who could ultimately get their man.

The Sun report suggests that Chelsea will offer £15million plus Loic Remy in a bid to beat any and all rivals to one of the hottest prospects in European football.

Lacazette has previously gone on record to suggest that he will remain at Lyon for a while yet, but such is his goal-scoring form that there are likely to be plenty of offers this summer.

The question is: Will one come along that tempts both the player and his current club into business?

If Lacazette played up front with Diego Costa next season they could be devastating. But similarly Arsenal would be wise to add him to their own burgeoning strike-force as they bid to reclaim a Premier League title they have missed out on for too long.
