Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga hopes that Southend United get automatic promotion to League One today.

Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga has taken to social networking site Twitter to reveal his confidence about Southend United’s promotion chances.

Southend are currently third in the League Two table with 84 points from 45 matches and will guarantee automatic promotion to League One with a win today.

Phil Brown’s side will take on Morecambe away from home at the Globe Arena this afternoon, and Assombalonga predicts them to win the encounter 3-0.

Assombalonga, who is currently sidelined with a long-term knee injury, played on loan for Southend in the 2012-13 season.

It seems that even after almost two years the 22-year-old has maintained a soft spot for the Seasiders, who have had a very good season and deserve to get promoted to League One.

Meanwhile, Forest will take on Cardiff City at the City Ground in the Championship today to wrap up their 2014-15 campaign.

The Reds are 12th in the league table at the moment with 59 points from 45 matches and still have a chance of a top-10 finish in the standings.
