Leicester will head into the encounter at the King Power Stadium on the back of a 3-1 defeat to league leaders Chelsea at home, but former Newcastle striker Owen backs them to bounce back.
“I shall be at the King Power Stadium with BT Sport for this lunchtime kick off and expect the Foxes to bounce back from their defeat against Chelsea midweek when they played well for an hour,” the former Manchester United and Liverpool star wrote on Betvictor.com.
“The Magpies are unbeaten in their last nine league games against the Foxes but are hardly finishing the season with a flourish. Leicester can move within a point of the Toon with a win and I think they can make home advantage count.”
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
Both Leicester and Newcastle are in danger of suffering relegation from the Premier League, and both are in desperate need of three points.
The Foxes, though, will be favourites to win today, as they are in better form and prior to Wednesday’s loss to Chelsea, they had won four league matches in a row.
In contrast, Newcastle have suffered defeats in their last seven league fixtures and are the worst team in the Premier League on current form.
However, John Carver’s side’s chances of picking up a point today should not be written off. The Magpies have some very good players who can certainly step up against Leicester.
