Former Liverpool and Leeds United defender Jim Beglin has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Manchester United’s defeat to West Bromwich Albion at home today.
United suffered their third successive defeat in the Premier League, as they went down 1-0 to the Baggies at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils dominated possession, but Chris Brunt's free-kick deflected in off team-mate Jonas Olsson in the 63rd minute and that proved to be the decisive goal in the contest.
West Brom goalkeeper Boaz Myhill saved Netherlands international striker Robin van Persie's penalty after Saido Berahino's handball offence in the area.
Over the course of the 90 minutes, Louis van Gaal’s side had 80% of the possession, took 26 shots of which nine were on target, and earned nine corners.
Beglin was following the match, and after full time he made the following post on Twitter.
The 51-year-old former Republic of Ireland international left-back also took a swipe at Angel di Maria, who had yet another disappointment game for United.
Di Maria drew one great save from Boaz Myhill today but otherwise looked like he was worth £5.97m & no the decimal point is correctly placed— Jim Beglin (@jimbeglin) May 2, 2015
Di Maria did not start the Premier League encounter and came on as a substitute for Dutchman Daley Blind in the 63rd minute.
The Argentine international took one shot, created one chance, had a pass accuracy of 81% and attempted one dribble.
United are currently fourth in the Premier League table with 65 points from 35 matches, just four points clear of Liverpool, who are fifth in the standings at the moment.
