The Anfield outfit beat QPR 2-1 but there was far more to what might appear a routine win to an outsider than meets the eye.
Firstly, a banner containing the message '[Brendan] Rodgers out, Rafa [Benitez] in' was flown over Liverpool's ground. Captain Steven Gerrard also produced a rare penalty miss - but then ended up scoring the winner anyway.
As such, Carragher commented on social media that the Reds' victory over the R's was a 'strange' one to say the least.
He did, however, hail Brazilian Philippe Coutinho for a 'class' performance against QPR.
Some strange & common occurrences at Anfield today. Plane banner (Joke) SG missing a pen but, Coutinho class again SG wins the game Again!!— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) May 2, 2015
Coutinho hasn't been the most consistent of Liverpool players this season, going missing in some big games - frustratingly for Reds fans.
So talented is the 22-year-old, of course, that - at his best - Coutinho is unstoppable. That's why it's such a shame he very often doesn't produce his best.
He did it here against QPR, though, opening the scoring for Liverpool, before Gerrard cancelled out Leroy Fer's equaliser with the winning goal.
Both Liverpool and QPR also paid their respects to Rio Ferdinand, meanwhile, whose wife Rebecca Ellison tragically passed away from cancer.
Everyone at HITC Sport would like to do the same and send their thoughts and wishes to the R's defender and his family at this difficult time.
