Indeed, the 22-year-old midfielder took to Twitter in celebration after Aston Villa beat Everton 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
And Gardner also expressed his delight that he is returning to training with the Premier League side on Tuesday.
What a win for the villa boys today too!!! looking forward to get back training with them on Tuesday! #utv— Gary Gardner (@22Gards) May 2, 2015
Gardner has previously expressed his gratitude to Nottingham Forest for giving him the wonderful opportunity to play so many games in the Championship - one he has taken full advantage of.
There could be no more exciting time for the 22-year-old to return to Aston Villa, however.
Tim Sherwood has certainly turned the top-flight club on its head. So much energy has the former Tottenham boss brought to Villa Park, it's almost as though his positivity alone is enough to drive them to win after win.
Aston Villa certainly impressed against Everton and it will be intriguing to see what role, if any, Gardner plays in the run-up to the end of the season.
As for his time at Nottingham Forest, it ended with another defeat but there were plenty of good memories to hold onto.
