Frank McAvennie reacts on Twitter to Celtic title - praises Aberdeen

The former Celtic star was full of praise for the Bhoys - and the Dons.

Celtic legend Frank McAvennie congratulated his former club on winning their fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership title on Saturday afternoon.

The ex-Celtic star took to Twitter to offer a big 'well done' to the Bhoys after Aberdeen's loss at Dundee United secured the league trophy for Celtic early.

Ronny Deila's men had beaten Dundee 5-0 on Friday night and it was only a matter of time before they secured a double, such is their form at the moment.

Celtic have missed out on a treble, of course, but today remains a special day for the club as their fourth league title in a row was confirmed.

McAvennie, however, also offered a shout to rivals Aberdeen for the role they played in the league campaign...

Indeed, it wouldn't have quite been the same for Celtic had they coasted to the trophy much earlier than at this stage of the season.

The Dons never quite looked like overthrowing the Hoops but still offered sturdy opposition and are only 11 points behind Celtic - a sizeable but still admirable gap.

As such, many neutrals will no doubt express similar sentiments to McAvennie. If it wasn't for Aberdeen, perhaps Celtic wouldn't have raised their levels so...
