Ipswich secured a place in the top six despite losing 3-2 to Blackburn Rovers away from home at Ewood Park on Saturday.
With Derby County losing at home to Reading, goal difference proved enough for the Tractor Boys to finish sixth and stay in contention of promotion to the Premier League.
Following the success, Hunt posted the following messages on Twitter, expressing his delight at having the chance to play Premier League football next season.
Delighted to be in the playoffs again! It's what every player hopes for on day 1 of preseason! Great big Thank you to @ReadingFC today!— Noel Hunt (@boyhunt) May 2, 2015

Hunt started the season with West Yorkshire outfit Leeds, but the Whites released him from his contract and he signed as a free agent with Ipswich in the January transfer window after he spent an initial period of time on loan at Portman Road.
The 32-year-old struggled for playing time at Leeds, featuring just once in the Championship.
At Ipswich, Hunt has a total of 11 games in the Championship, scoring three goals and creating five chances in the process.
Meanwhile, Leeds finished the season in 15th place in the Championship and played out a goalless draw with Rotherham United on Saturday.
