'Typical Tony Pulis.' A phrase often used - but meant only out of respect to the current West Brom boss and not mockery. Especially on this occasion.
Indeed, after the Baggies beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford, many on Twitter took note once more.
Pulis has a knack of doing these things. People criticise him for boring football. They also criticise Chelsea of the same - and they're about to win the Premier League title.
As Fabrice Muamba commented on Twitter, this was typical Pulis, with West Brom staying compact and doing the basics right.
They got a bit of luck, as Robin van Persie also missed a penalty, but Manchester United were shown just what a disciplined Pulis side can really do.
Big result 4 WBA, a typical Tony Pulis team performance defensively compact, discipline in every area of the pitch & got lucky with the goal— fabrice muamba (@fmuamba) May 2, 2015
Meanwhile, pundit Danny Higginbotham also criticised Manchester United's role in their loss, branding them too 'predictable.'
But credit was once again paid to West Brom, who repeated the feats of Everton and Chelsea by sitting back and nullifying United's biggest threats.
What lies in wait for West Brom next season? Pulis will have had a few months - and a transfer window - to settle by then...
