Carlo Ancelotti sides with Cristiano Ronaldo over Real Madrid boo-boys

Former Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been the subject of whistles from Real Madrid supporters.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has said that he can’t understand why superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been the subject of whistles from a section of his own supporters, Spanish paper AS report.

The former Manchester United hero has been in scintillating form this season, breaking numerous goal scoring records and deservedly winning the 2014 Ballon d’Or ahead of Barcelona ace Lionel Messi.

However, whatever ridiculous goal scoring feat Ronaldo achieves next, it seemingly will never be good enough for a section of Madrid’s demanding fan base.

Over the past few months, the team has underperformed and subsequently felt the wrath of the Madrid supporters and press, especially after a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid.

Ronaldo, you would imagine, would be immune to such criticism given his efforts. Yet, rather shockingly, the Portuguese ace has often been near the front of the firing line, prompting firm words from Ancelotti.

"I don't understand how the Bernabéu can whistle Cristiano. He's scored all those goals because he has character. Cristiano is never happy with how he's doing, he always wants to improve and that's why he scores so many goals,” the Italian coach explained.

Since trading the Red Devils for the Santiago Bernabeu, Ronaldo has scored a sensational 302 goals in 294 appearances in all competitions, helping Madrid to numerous honours.

However, the 30-year-old doesn’t do himself any favours as he often appears egocentric and self-obsessed, his latest episode coming in the 3-0 win over Almeria.

After numerous attempts, Ronaldo was denied a goal as Alvaro Arbeloa instead finished off a neat move. His response was telling, refusing to celebrate Madrid’s goal and muttering words of discontent.
