Aston Villa fans on Twitter: Christian Benteke was 'unplayable' against Everton

Aston Villa fans were full of praise for Christian Benteke after his performance against Everton.

Aston Villa continued their fine form under Tim Sherwood with a 3-2 win over Everton at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.

After reaching the FA Cup final with a semi-final win over Liverpool last month, there has been a buzz around Villa Park, and it continued against Everton.

Two first half goals from Christian Benteke put Villa 2-0 up, before Romelu Lukaku - Benteke's Belgian international team-mate - pulled one back for Everton from the penalty spot after the break.

Tom Cleverley restored Villa's two-goal advantage, and whilst Phil Jagielka bagged an injury time consolation, Villa held on for a vital three points.

The result leaves them in 14th place in the Premier League table but just two points clear of the relegation zone, meaning Sherwood still has work to do.

The hero of the day was striker Benteke though, who has been nothing short of sensational under Sherwood, continued his remarkable scoring form under the new manager - with ten goals in his last eight Premier League games.

Unsurprisingly, Villa fans were full of praise for Benteke on Twitter after the game, with some fans even comparing him to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, whilst even suggesting that he's the best striker Villa have had in recent memory.
