Rangers midfielder Andy Murdoch has told the club’s official website that Darren McGregor has been the best player for them this season.
The 20-year-old made the comments following the Gers’ 2-2 draw with champions Heart of Midlothian away from home at the Tynecastle Stadium in Edinburgh today.
McGregor scored against Hearts just the half-hour mark and also defended well to show once again why he is a key player for Stuart McCall’s side.
Murdoch was impressed with the shift put in by the 29-year-old defender and hailed him as their best player this campaign.
“Darren has chipped in with a few goals this season and he has been really good,” the 20-year-old told Rangers’ official website. “He’s probably our best player of the year and definitely the most consistent.”
McGregor joined Rangers in the summer of 2014 after leaving Scottish Premiership outfit St. Mirren and is one of the best defenders in the Championship.
The former Cowdenbeath star will have to be at his best for the playoffs, as the Gers aim to return to the top flight of English football at the end of the season.
McCall’s side will take on Queens of the South in the quarter-finals of the playoffs. If the Glasgow giants are able to win the two-legged affair, then they will face Hibernian in the semi-finals.
If Rangers are able to win against Hibs, then they will take on the 11th-placed side in the Scottish Premiership for a spot in next season’s top flight.
