The Manchester City forward is a regular at the top of the scoring charts, but Kane has challenged him throughout this season.
This weekend sees Tottenham take on Manchester City with both sides still harbouring hopes of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League.
While hitting that target looks to be more of a certainty for City than it does Spurs, there is still hope for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, meaning this game is far from a dead rubber.
Two players that have helped their respective sides into the situation they currently find themselves in are forwards Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane. The Argentine has once again proved his class, while the youngster has enjoyed a scintillating debut season in the English top-flight.
But who comes out on top in the battle for the Golden Boot? We’ve taken a look at their stats to find out.
In goals alone Aguero leads the way, with 21 goals compared to Kane’s tally of 20, a small margin so far. He also leads when it comes to goals per minute, with one arriving every 103 minutes from the South American, compared to Kane’s strike rate of a goal every 111 minutes.
The Spurs youngster does, however, have a better shot accuracy than his striking counterpart, with an accuracy of 45% percent compared to Aguero’s score of 41%.
He has also missed fewer big chances than Aguero,10 compared to 13, although the Argentine has scored more big chances than the England youngster, with 14 compared to 12. Elsewhere, his dribbling has proved more successful as well, with 57% of them coming off. In contrast, Kane has a success rate of 46%.
So then, a narrow victory in most areas for Sergio Aguero but given the fine margins, it again goes to highlight how impressive a debut season Harry Kane has enjoyed at White Hart Lane.
