Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has been quoted as saying by Marca that he does not plan to leave in the summer transfer window.
Casillas’s current contract with 2014 Champions League winners Madrid runs out in June 2017, and he is determined to carry on at the Santiago Bernabeu until then at least.
“Where am I going to be better off than here?” the Spain international is quoted as saying by Marca when asked about a possible move to Arsenal.
Casillas’s decision to remain put at Madrid make sense. After all, the Spaniard is playing for the world’s biggest club and can still win loads of trophies.
Moving to Arsenal even at the age of 33 would be a step down for a player who has won the World Cup, the European Championship and the Champions League.
One suspects that Arsenal may not be too keen on Casillas either despite the recent links.
Casillas may still be the first-choice goalkeeper at Madrid, but he is past his prime and is not going to enhance the quality of the current Arsenal team.
