Ray Parlour: I expect Wojciech Szczesny to leave Arsenal

Former Arsenal player Ray Parlour said he expects goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to leave the club at the end of the season.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour explained on talkSPORT that he expects Wojciech Szczesny to leave the club this summer.

Parlour suggested his old club could do a lot worse than signing Iker Casillas of Real Madrid as the man to replace him.

The Daily Mirror reported earlier this week that the Gunners were linked with a move for the Spanish shot stopper with Arsene Wenger reportedly keen to freshen up his options between the sticks.

“I think Casillas would be a good signing because of his experience - I don't think Chelsea will let Cech join them but I expect Szczesny to leave - Ospina will probably continue as number two,” said Parlour.

Plenty of Arsenal fans would suggest that Petr Cech is the sensible choice and he does tick a lot of boxes with similar experience to Casillas and proven ability when it comes to performing in the Premier League.

However, as Parlour points out, whether Jose Mourinho would be willing to make Arsenal stronger is doubtful.

Arsenal had a slow start to the season but over the second half of the campaign, they have looked like one of the only teams capable of getting close to the Blues at the top of the table.

That’s likely to have given the manager the belief that the side still have a title in them before he retires, but they need to recruit well over the summer and not make any mistakes in terms of transfers.
