Nabil Bentaleb has told the Ham and High newspaper that Tottenham Hotspur have the quality in their squad to compete with the very best.
Spurs take on Manchester City this weekend and Bentaleb insists that his side have nothing to fear in the fixture.
The Algerian says that Spurs have enough quality to beat any side in the Premier League on their day and wants them to prove their class on Sunday.
"They’re a really good team, we can’t lie about this, everyone knows,” he said. “But now we have shown we can compete with those big teams and let’s go and prove it again on Sunday. We have a good opportunity to show that to everyone.
“We know it’s really hard playing against those big teams but we have the quality to beat them and to get the three points. We will see on Sunday but we will go all out."
Despite Bentaleb's encouraging words, Spurs were beaten 4-1 by City earlier in the campaign and the side will need to put that fixture to the back of their minds if they are to be successful this weekend.
Spurs have managed to beat the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea at White Hart Lane this season, but their inconsistency has been the main reason behind their likely failure to make it into the top four.
The Lilywhites have been guilty of throwing away points on too many occasions and a spot in the Europa League now looks to be the best that they can hope for.
By beating City, Mauricio Pochettino's men can remind teams across the division of the quality that they do have, though, and that will be a positive message to send out for next season - where there will be more pressure on the north London side to break into the Champions League spots.
