Samed Yesil featured for the Liverpool Under-21s against their Everton counterparts at Goodison Park on Thursday.

Liverpool forward Samed Yesil continued his recovery from a long-term injury by playing for the Under-21 side on Thursday evening.

The 20-year-old started the Under-21 Premier League game against the Everton Under-21 team at Goodison Park.

The Reds won the encounter 3-1, thanks to a brace from Ryan Kent and a late penalty from Sheyi Ojo - a match which was attended by first-team star Emre Can, as reported by The Liverpool Echo's James Pearce.

It was a pretty comfortable evening for Liverpool, but Yesil was far from his best despite showing some promising signs.

The German forward was taken off in the second half for Ojo, who then proved to be a key player in the win.

Yesil had a very good chance when he played a one-two and marched into the Everton penalty box, but his effort from close range at the near post left much to be desired.

Signed from Bayer Leverkusen in 2012, Yesil has been effectively out of action for two years with injury.

It will understandably take the youngster some time to get into the groove of things, but Liverpool fans seem pleased with the progress he is making at the moment.

Following the win against Everton on Thursday, Liverpool fans took to social networking site Twitter to have their say on the performance of Yesil.
