Hearts v Rangers preview: Victory a must if Gers are to finish second

Rangers FC

Rangers have to win and hope that Hibernian drop points if they are to finish second in the Scottish Championship.

Game to be played on Saturday 2nd May 2015 at 12:15. Venue: Tynecastle, Edinburgh.

Odds: Hearts 5/4, draw 13/5 Rangers 9/5

Rangers need to gatecrash the Hearts promotion party to stand any chance of finishing second in the Scottish Championship.

The Light Blues sit one point behind Hibernian and require a victory and for Hibs to draw or lose in order to finish second and avoid two extra play-off games against Queen of the South.

Hearts have been formidable at home this campaign, losing just once at Tynecastle, but Rangers managed a 2-1 victory at Ibrox when the sides met at the beginning of April.

Rangers finished that match with 10 men after Lee McCulloch was sent-off and he could be a weakness that Robbie Neilson’s side pray upon given his current poor form that has seen him booed by sections of the Gers support.

Despite a blip in April, Hearts have still won 12 of their last 14 games and will been keen to end the season on a high by beating Rangers - who have only lost four times on the road - for the third time this campaign.

Stuart McCall has an almost completely fully fit squad to choose from, with Remie Streete and Shane Ferguson both featuring in youth team games this week, while Richard Foster and Jon Daly have both returned to training.

Saturday’s game may come too soon for Foster and Streete but Daly and Ferguson could feature on the bench alongside Ian Black, who returns from suspension.

Hearts have a clean bill of health and have the option to name an unchanged team for the final game of the season.
