Hunter was confirmed into his position, as reported by the club’s website, last March and Freedman has suggested he’s going to be a crucial individual at the club over the course of the summer.
“I think it’s working really well – Leon helps out a lot with the contracts in and out, he’s on top of the game with the prices that we have to pay and obviously the locations in terms of where players are, how they’re going to adapt, are they married? Just little things like that,” said the Forest boss.
“Have they (potential signings) got that desire to get us into the Premier League? That’s what Leon has been brought in to do.”
Freedman is going to need all of the help he can get in the transfer market this summer, because Forest have to work extra hard as they can’t pay big fees for players.
What Forest’s deals could come down to is how well Freedman can talk to potential players and how well people like Hunter can work hard behind the scenes to secure all of the small details, which matter to those players.
Anything any official can do to take some of the pressure away from Freedman is important because it fees him up to focus on the squad and addressing problems, which are within his control.
If Forest are going to compete for promotion next season then everyone has to be pulling in the same direction and working hard to give the club an edge in all key areas.
Speed is going to be everything with some issues and Hunter is someone who seems to understand that.
