He left St Mary’s due to the arrival of Fraser Forster, and the Englishman’s impressive form, but Boruc has proven himself during his stay in the Championship.
It could be suspected that the Cherries will look to sign the former Celtic stopper on a permanent deal in the summer, and with his contract running out this summer, as per the BBC, the club are in pole position to securing him.
However, Southampton may have something to say about that, with Forster out of action with a long-term injury, and Kelvin Davis hardly of the quality needed in the Premier League.
This opens the door for Boruc to reclaim his starting role at St Mary’s, and although Bournemouth can offer the the same promise of first-team football, they do not have the Europa League to go with that - which it looks like the Saints will qualify for.
This knowledge of European football makes Southampton a better prospect, and Boruc may well agree to sign a new deal with Ronald Koeman’s men.
There are as yet no confirmations as to how Boruc will go forward with his career, but he has undoubted Premier League quality that Bournemouth could do with next term.
Yet, Southampton need him, and that may be enough to secure the 35-year-old Pole on a contract extension, with Forster’s injury coming at a great time for currently outcast stopper.
