The Belgian striker has scored 10 goals in his last 10 games.
Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has certainly changed the mood at Villa Park since taking over from Paul Lambert. Fans are certainly more optimistic under the new boss and that new positive attitude was on full show when they defeated Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final and came one poor linesman decision away from beating Manchester City.
One of the main success stories at the club since Sherwood's arrival has been Christian Benteke. The Belgian was struggling at the start of the season to find the back of the net. But he has scored ten goals in his last ten games and Sherwood knows how important he is to his team.
He said this of Benteke in a recent interview with former Tottenham team-mate Jamie Redknapp for Sky Sports:
"He is a thoroughbred. He is a good mover as well when he gets into his stride. A fantastic athlete. It's just about keeping him fit and creating the chances for him. When you create the chances for him, he scores."
Villa may be in the FA Cup final but they are certainly not pout of the relegation battle. Leicester's resurgent form has put a new dimension into play, with Villa now just two points off the relegation zone with four games remaining.
Benteke will have to be in top form if they are going to ensure their survival in the top-flight.
