Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel has been singing the praises of Chelsea custodian Thibaut Courtois on BT Sport.
Courtois is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has been one of the key players for the Blues this season.
Former USA international Friedel has been impressed with the performances of 22-year-old Belgium international and has identified his main strength.
When asked if his teammate Hugo Lloris is on the same level as Manchester United’s David de Gea and Courtois, the 43-year-old told BT Sport: Absolutely. Hugo is a tremendous goalkeeper.
“Every goalkeeper has their outstanding attribute. You go to Courtois on crosses. I have not seen a goalkeeper better on crosses in a long, long time than Courtois. De Gea and Hugo are a little bit more similar - their reactions are out of this world.”
This is Courtois’s first season at Chelsea, having played on loan at Spanish club Atletico Madrid for the past three years.
During his time in Spain, the youngster won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Europa League, and also reached the final of the Champions League last season.
Courtois has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper at Chelsea ahead of Petr Cech, and he has not let his manager Jose Mourinho down.
In 29 Premier League appearances so far this season, the former Genk star has kept 11 clean sheets and has made 1.97 saves per game.
Courtois also has a 100% cross claim success - it proves Friedel’s point.
