Tottenham Hotspur ace has also created more chances than much-heralded Manchester United and Chelsea stars.
The Argentine has improved this season on his injury-hit debut campaign, and while remaining inconsistent, his performances stack up against PFA Team of the Season selection and Player of the Season nominee Philippe Coutinho.
Lamela has created just two fewer chances, and contributed an equal combined number of goals and assists in the Premier League.
The Tottenham winger has done this in 29 appearances compared to Coutinho's 31, and 1,953 minutes of football compared to the Liverpool man's 2,439.
Lamela has created more goalscoring chances this season than several highly regarded players, including those at Chelsea and Manchester United.
All of these players have played 26 games or more this season, and illustrates that Lamela's campaign has not been a total write off.
The 23-year-old has a further three goals to his tally with strikes in the Europa League and Capital One Cup this season.
Tottenham invested a lot of money in bringing him to White Hart Lane and could yet regret selling him on, especially as they are unlikely to do so at a profit.
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino should consider giving him another chance and seeing if he can kick on with a second season under his management.
