Report: West Ham interested in Marco Andreolli, player wants first team football

West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Inter Milan defender Marco Andreolli.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, who cite reports from Gazzetta TV, West Ham United are interested in signing Inter Milan defender Marco Andreolli.

The Hammers have seen James Tomkins develop into an impressive Premier League defender, whilst his centre back partner Winston Reid signed a new contract earlier this year.

However, both players have endured some injury troubles this season, leaving manager Sam Allardyce with little depth behind them - even playing midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate in defence alongside James Collins recently.

It would therefore be little surprise to see West Ham move to bring in another centre back this summer, and Gazzetta TV, according to Tutto Mercato Web, are reporting that the Hammers have an interest in signing Inter centre back Andreolli this summer.

Andreolli, 28, was lured to the San Siro as a teenager having come through the ranks at Padova, and after spells with Roma, Vicenza, Sassuolo and Chievo, he found his way back to Inter in 2013.

However, with the likes of Nemanja Vidic and Juan Jesus available to Roberto Mancini, Andreolli has featured in just 18 games in almost two years - and is allegedly ready to move on again in search of first-team football.

The report suggests that Fiorentina and Lazio will offer him the chance to stay in Serie A, but he's intrigued by the Premier League - and West Ham could offer him the chance to play in England.

Given how little Inter use him, Andreolli could come at a knockdown price this summer, with West Ham certainly needing cover for Tomkins and Reid next season and beyond.
