The Dutch veteran and former Tottenham player is certainly a wanted man across Europe.
Last week it was reported by The Scotsman that Celtic were keen on the signature of former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rafael van der Vaart. The Dutchman has made his intention to leave Hamburg SV in the summer clear and that has alerted the attention of several clubs across Europe, including, it seems, Celtic.
RVDV, something of a cult hero at Tottenham, has over 100 caps for the Dutch national team and has also played for the likes of Ajax and Real Madrid - so he would undoubtedly be an incredible signing from The Bhoys.
But they will have to beat off the attention of several Turkish clubs, according to reports today. Turkish source Sporx is claiming that no fewer than five teams from the Turkish Superlig are keen on the player. It is believed Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Besiktas, Bursaspor and Trabzonspor are all exploring the possibility of signing the midfield maestro from the Bundesliga strugglers.
Celtic would certainly like to feel on par with those clubs, and in terms of prestige they certainly are, if not more so. But in terms of cash, they would struggle to keep up the Turkish sides if they truly have their hearts set on his signature.
Hopefully his previous stint in British football can be used to their advantage.
