Hendrick comments on Derby County mistakes

Derby County player Jeff Hendrick has suggested that the Rams have made too many mistakes this season.

Derby County midfielder Jeff Hendrick has told the Derby Telegraph he feels the team have made more mistakes than they did last season.

The Rams go into the final weekend of the Championship season looking to protect their place in the top six, which will give the side a chance to compete for promotion into the Premier League.

If Derby secure their play-off place, it’s vital they play faultless football over the first two games and hopefully in the final, as they look to make up for losing in the final last season.

“Obviously, we don't mean to make mistakes. It's happened a lot more this season compared to last,” said Hendrick.

“It's just a shame that every little mistake we've made over the past couple of months seems to have been punished.”

Derby’s manager Steve McClaren will have a big role to play after this weekend if the Rams are in the play-offs.

He needs to ensure that the squad forgets about the problems Hendrick talks about and focuses on ending the season in the perfect way.

If the Rams are promoted then everyone will forget about the goals, which have been conceded and the injuries, which affected the side as the focus will be on looking forward to the Premier League.

If Derby show confidence and play without any fear against Reading, they should be able to secure an impressive result and carry momentum forward.
