Fred Rutten says only an 'irresistible offer' will get the Dutch midfielder.
The former Ado Den Haag man has been impressive for the Rotterdam club this season and now Premier League interest is starting to mount.
Both clubs have a good history with Feyenoord. Newcastle negotiated a move for Daryl Janmaat with them last summer whilst Ronald Koeman, current Southampton boss, is the former coach at De Kuip. So it is certainly a perceivable deal in both respects.
However, Feyenoord's current boss Fred Rutten has made it clear that any deal for Immers would come at a cost.
The boss has been quoted by SoccerNews as stating only an 'irresistible offer' would be accepted for the player this summer. He also claimed that he would be at the club even though Rutten will not be. He steps down in the summer, to be replaced by former Arsenal and Rangers defender Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
It seems then that Immers will be a tough asset to prise away this summer from a club where he is clearly revered.
Both Newcastle and Southampton have a real task on their hands if they are genuine in their affection for Immers.
