Villa boss Tim Sherwood has provided a fitness update on his squad ahead of the weekend's visit of Everton.
Hutton has been out with an ankle problem since being forced off at half-time of the 3-1 defeat at Manchester United, with Leandro Bacuna deputising at right-back for the past four matches.
However, the Scot, who has been one of Villa’s most consistent contributors this season, is now back in training and looks in line to make the weekend’s squad if he comes through tomorrow’s session unscathed.
The Everton clash has come too soon for Gabriel Agbonlahor, though, as the long-serving striker is still not 100 per cent recovered from a hamstring strain which has kept him sidelined for two games.
He is not far off a return, however, and could be back in time for the following weekend’s home match against West Ham United.
On Hutton’s fitness, the Villa boss said: “We're hoping Alan puts himself in contention, yes. He is back in training, which is good news for us.
"He has trained the latter part of the week. He will train again on Friday. We will assess him again on Friday."
Continuing on Agbonlahor, Sherwood added: "Gabby is still not training. He's done some light work. We are hoping to have him back in full training at the beginning of next week though."
Sherwood also revealed that Philippe Senderos is prepared to be called upon if needed after turning out for the Under-21s, having seen fellow centre-backs Ciaran Clark and Nathan Baker both go down with long-term injuries in recent weeks.
