Wellington Silva has said he’s ready to ‘seize the opportunity’ after he was given the green light to join up with the Arsenal squad next season.
The 22-year-old, who is currently on loan to Almeria, was granted a Spanish passport last week and has given supporters a defiant message that he will ensure the time spent obtaining the passport does not go to waste.
‘’I am very happy and relieved,’’ Silva was quoted as saying on Sambafoot. ‘’I’ve been waiting a long time and now’s the time to seize the opportunity – the doors will open.’’
The Brazilian has failed to set the world alight while on loan, having only scored 11 goals in 112 appearances since 2011, but looks determined not to let his past decide his future.
Can Silva get into the Arsenal team next season?
Although Silva has every right to be excited, especially given the length of his wait, it’s more than likely he will have a loan spell at an English club before being picked for the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger may want to take a look at the winger in action in England before deciding his fate and given that his loan spells so far haven’t been a roaring success, the French tactician is well within his right.
The Brazilian has it all to prove but if he can ‘seize the opportunity’, then his patience will be richly rewarded.
