Video: Sheffield Wednesday's pitch being ripped up, 48 hours of work in one minute

Sheffield Wednesday's pitch is being ripped up and relaid.

Sheffield Wednesday have wasted no time in ripping in the Hillsborough pitch after playing their final home game of the season.

The Owls lost 2-1 at home to Leeds at the weekend, a match the Whites won despite none of their players being able to complete 20 passes.

Wednesday have released an impressive timelapse video on their YouTube channel, showing the work which has gone in over the past 48 hours, speeding up stadium camera footage to condense it into just a minute.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported at the weekend that new Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has committed to spend £1 million on relating the pitch, which the paper described as 'awful'.

New loan signing Lloyd Isgrove was one of many Wednesday players to recently reference the bad pitch, speaking to the Sheffield Telegraph, but also adding that it could not be used as an excuse for their poor home performances.

Next season expect it to be in pristine condition, and an immaculate playing surface can only help the club's ambition to finally earn results which lead to promotion.
