Tim Sherwood says Aston Villa outcasts and loanees will get a chance

Gary Gardner

The Villa boss is ready to have a look at plenty of forgotten names at Villa Park.

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood should be a manager who is exciting the young players at Villa Park. He has previous for bringing in top talent at Tottenham Hotspur and is making 19-year-old Jack Grealish a real focal point of the Villa first-team.

It is not just the young players currently at Villa who should be excited. Sherwood has also made it clear that he has his eye on several Villa players currently on loan elsewhere.

In an interview with former Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Jamie Redknapp for Sky Sports at the weekend, Sherwood stated:

"We've got a couple out on loan as well who I want to have a look at for next season. They would have to be really, really not in my plans for them not to be here next season. I will give them every chance to be a success because I think homegrown players, over a period of a long time, are your best players."

That should offer real hope for several talented Villa stars.

It seems he is talking about the likes of Lewis Kinsella at Luton Town, Chris Herd at Wigan, Callum Robinson at Preston North End and, perhaps more than the others, Gary Gardner at Nottingham Forest.

The younger brother of West Brom midfielder Craig has impressed in 2015 at the City Ground. With Tom Cleverley only on loan Sherwood will need central midfield reinforcements in the summer. Gardner might be just what he is after.

The others can all hope for a chance at Villa. Sherwood is clearly ready to take a look at most of the players previously discarded or moved on by Paul Lambert.

It will be interesting to see who grabs their chance.
