Robinson, 20, has come up through the ranks at Villa Park and even played in five games for the Villa first team last season.
This term though, Robinson has spent the majority of the season out on loan at League One outfit Preston North End, playing a part in their push for promotion to the Championship.
So far, Robinson has hit seven goals in 26 appearances for the Lilywhites, regularly featuring as a left winger for North End, where he's allowed to drift inside and shoot on his right foot.
After an impressive season, Preston boss Simon Grayson recently told the Lancashire Evening Post that he is interested in re-signing Robinson for next season, whether that be on loan or on permanent deal.
However, the Birmingham Mail have today reported that Villa manager Sherwood is a big fan of the England Under-20 international, and wants to watch him closely in pre-season ahead of a possible place in the Aston Villa first team next season.
With pace and dribbling ability, Robinson could make an impact under Sherwood, but if he doesn't get much of a chance, it would be little surprise to see him return to Preston on loan next season.
