Report: Pochettino planning Spurs 'revamp,' club to sell Lamela & Soldado

Roberto Soldado

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly given up on the duo.

Tottenham are ready to sell Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The club are prepared to give up on the £56 million duo (£30m for Lamela, £26m for Soldado, as quoted by the Mirror's report) as boss Mauricio Pochettino plans a major 'revamp' of the squad.

Argentine winger Lamela has flattered to deceive since moving to White Hart Lane - barring the odd glimpse of talent. Soldado, meanwhile, has proved the opposite of clinical in front of goal.

As Opta stats show, neither Lamela nor Soldado have been anywhere near key players for Tottenham in the Premier League this term.

The heroics of 21-year-old Harry Kane have quite frankly put Soldado to shame (although he is still a huge preference for many to Emmanuel Adebayor). Lamela, meanwhile has continually frustrated despite posting a high rate of dribbles and chances created.

What is interesting is recent reports from the London Evening Standard that Spurs could be willing to offload Andros Townsend in part exchange for Morgan Schneiderlin.

That affects Lamela more than Soldado and raises an interesting issue: would Tottenham be better off selling Townsend, Lamela... or both?
