Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling struggled to make an impact as the Reds lost 1-0 at Hull City.
Early last season he disappointed in a 3-1 loss at the KC Stadium which saw many fans demand he be sent out on loan, and 18 months on the 20-year-old finds himself in a very different scenario.
Sterling has kicked on since, going on to play a key role in Liverpool's title challenge last season, and impressing early on this campaign.
Ever since his interview with The BBC at the start of this month, Sterling has been unable to show why he is deserving of a contract above the £100,000 per week offer he revealed he had rejected.
Last night against Hull, Liverpool were downed by a Michael Dawson goal, and had no response in attack.
Sterling attempted to make an impact, registering two of two shots on target, but could only create one goalscoring opportunity.
He completed three dribbles, half as much as Coutinho (6), and completed 81 per cent of his passes, a low figure in comparison to the rest of the squad, only bettering Mario Balotelli (66 per cent) among the starters.
Sterling has scored just once and has one assist in his last 10 games, while Liverpool have hit the back of the net only once in their last three matches.
His performance continues to be scrutinised in light of his failure to commit his future to the club, and the reaction was not great to his display. Here is a look at what fans on Twitter had to say...
Rodgers needs to GET as much as he can for Sterling and DO as much as he can to keep Coutinho #LFC— Chris Skelton (@CwissySkel) April 28, 2015
