Keiren Westwood expecting big things from Sheffield Wednesday next season

Keiren Westwood is one of the players Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to build their team around.

Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood has told the Sheffield Star that he is positive about the future of the club.

The Owls will be amongst the favourites for promotion from the Championship next term after the takeover of Dejphon Chansiri, and Westwood has backed them to have a successful season.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper says that Stuart Gray has built a solid foundation to add to, and he hopes to see the club make some additions in the upcoming transfer window.

“It has been a great season for everyone involved in the club so onwards and upwards now," he said.

“We have got a real solid base to build on and hopefully we’ll have a good summer in the transfer market. Things are looking positive so long may that continue.”

Westwood will feel assured that his position in the team is secured for next season, regardless of who Wednesday try to bring in this summer.

The former Sunderland man has been in brilliant form during his first season at Hillsborough, showcasing his ability.

It means that his position is one that Gray will not be looking to upgrade now that he has funds to spend, but there are plenty of other areas that Wednesday will be seeking improvements in.

The Owls have struggled going forward this season and Gray will be hoping to see a big improvement in this area next term.
