Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson explained on the club’s website there are several reasons for the team to be positive despite defeat against Hull City last night.
The Tigers secured a 1-0 win, which improved their position near the bottom of the Premier League table and Henderson feels there were some positives to take from the loss as Liverpool look to push on and end the season well.
“We were creating chances, we had a lot of the ball and a lot of possession. Getting to the final third, we got into some really good areas and didn't finish, so we need to be much more clinical in that area,” he said.
“If we do that, then we'll be killing teams off, really. We've just got to keep going and hopefully the ball will go in the back of the net soon.”
Liverpool are well placed to secure a European spot in the Europa League for next season, which will most likely be the main aim for Brendan Rodgers over the rest of the season.
The ultimate aim will be Champions League football, but it’s doubtful that there will be enough results going in the favour of the Reds for that to become possible.
Liverpool have really struggled in terms of scoring goals in recent games and it’s something, which the boss and the team need to work hard on improving and quickly.
The team haven’t scored more than two goals in a game since they defeated Tottenham at Anfield last February.
That has to change to take some of the pressure off of the team and it’s important that Daniel Sturridge is nursed back to full fitness for next season, with Rodgers adding well in the transfer market.
In the meantime, the club have to try and stay in the top six and find a way to get over the line.
