Gary Gardner suggests mentality Nottingham Forest squad should have

Nottingham Forest midfielder Gary Gardner says no player should be about to throw in the towel.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Gary Gardner has told Forest Player that he doesn’t feel any of his teammates should be clocking off until after this weekend.

Forest take on Cardiff City in their final game of the Championship season and the Aston Villa owned player wants his temporary club to end the season well for the sake of supporters.

“No player should have that in his head and just throw in the towel – I want to get my head down and work hard because I know how hard these fans work to come to the games,” said Gardner.

Gardner has been superb for Forest this season and his sensible comments personify the mentality and approach he has adopted in relation to his role at the City Ground throughout the season.

It’s important that the side takes a little bit of momentum forward into the summer because it will leave a spring in the step of everyone connected to the club.

The manager has his work cut out to improve the squad, the players will have a break before dealing with the challenge of fighting for promotion and the supporters will wait eagerly over the next few weeks for the pre-season build up to next year.

Manager Dougie Freedman, Gardner and the senior members of the first team should have everyone fully focused on getting the better of Cardiff. Forest can then reflect and move on.
