One of Arsenal's summer signings has been reflecting on his first year away from Manchester United.
The England international signed for the Gunners from Manchester United last summer, and to date he has played 34 times, scoring eight goals and setting up an additional six.
Speaking about the highlights of his first campaign as an Arsenal player, the 24-year-old spoke of something that he never managed to do during his time at United.
“Scoring my first professional hat-trick was a special moment for me,” Welbeck said, referring to the three goals he netted in the Champions League against Galatasaray.
“I want to improve,” Welbeck went on, “to keep getting better as a person and a player down here.”
It is an admirable intention, and it is already clear that he will be used far more regularly as a centre-forward than he was at United.
That is not to say Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has not used his versatility to play him on the wing, and surely that will continue when games and circumstances dictate; but having done what he never managed at United in scoring a professional hat-trick, Welbeck looks set for a bright future in North London.
