Tom Cleverley has told Aston Villa's official website that he believes Fabian Delph has got what it takes to become a ‘top’ player.
Cleverley, who is currently on loan at Villa from Manchester United, has been impressed by the England international's ability and attitude during his time at Villa Park.
He says that Cleverley has the energy required to play at the highest level in the Premier League, while his technical ability makes him a complete player.
"As a player now, Fabian is a fantastic athlete," he said. "He's good on the ball. He's got everything it takes in his game to be a top, top midfielder.
"What impresses me more than all that skill and quality is his attitude. He is a top, top pro. He works tremendously hard.
"He's always first in the door - and the last to leave. It doesn't shock me in the slightest to see someone with his mentality getting the rewards. It's no surprise."
Delph will be grateful to receive the praise, but it is not the first time that his Villa teammates have waxed lyrical about his ability this season.
The former Leeds United player is one of the Claret and Blues’ key men and his performances under Tim Sherwood have highlighted just how talented he is.
Delph has looked a real threat going forward, but he has also provided a useful shield for his side's defence and looks to be a player that Sherwood can build his Villa team around for the years ahead.
Whether Cleverley will be his partner in central midfield next season remains to be seen, though.
The United star's loan move expires at the end of the campaign – as does his current contract at Old Trafford - and it is still uncertain whether Villa will attempt to make it a permanent move or not once he drops into the free agent pool.
