Villa have enjoyed something of a resurgence under Sherwood, and now look likely to stay in the Premier League, whilst the ex-Tottenham boss has also guided Villa to the FA Cup final against Arsenal next month.
If Sherwood does keep Villa in the top flight, he will need to bring in reinforcements in the transfer window this summer - particularly in attack.
Christian Benteke looks revitalised under Sherwood but they can't rely on the Belgian too heavily, so another striker is certainly needed ahead of next season.
Now, the Daily Mail report that Sherwood sees England Under-21 international Bamford as the ideal signing for his system due to his pace and youth.
The Chelsea forward is currently on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship, and with 19 goals to his name this season, the 21-year-old has enjoyed a real season of development.
Still unlikely to break into the Chelsea side next season, the Blues are likely to loan him out again this summer - something Villa would reportedly be interested in exploring.
The Daily Mail also note that Crystal Palace, Everton and Southampton are interested in signing Bamford too, but with Sherwood allegedly convinced that he would be ideal in Villa's style of play, it seems a bid could be in the pipeline from Villa this summer.
