Former England midfielder Ray Wilkins has praised Aston Villa over a specific area.
Wilkins is full of praise for the energy the team have in and out of possession, but has suggested that they need to work hard on cutting out the errors, which are leading to the team conceding sloppy goals at the moment.
“I think Aston Villa are absolutely outstanding with the ball and they work hard to get it back, but when you are conceding goals in the manner they are, that’s just not on,” said Wilkins.
The proactive way Villa are playing at the moment isn’t a surprise because of the enthusiasm and energy, which flows from manager Tim Sherwood.
The club have some great players in possession and individuals with good engines, who are well suited to running off the ball to solidify the team in certain areas.
Sherwood was critical of the side’s defending when he spoke to BBC Sport and it is an area, which needs to improve.
Looking back to last weekend, the manager won’t be happy because his side scored two goals at Manchester City, which would normally be enough to take a result away from home, but they lost the game 3-2.
Villa have three out of their next four games at home and if they play anywhere close to their potential, with their talent, they should be fine and should be able to increase that cushion above the bottom three.
