Manchester United round-up: Van Persie reportedly wants to stay; alleged Gundogan twist

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Robin van Persie is keen to remain at Manchester United next season.

The Netherlands international is approaching the final year of his current contract, but it appears he has no desire to move on if the club are willing to keep him.

The report claims van Persie is happy to stay provided he is guaranteed sufficient playing-time, with a source close to the player allegedly saying, “Robin is in no rush to leave. He still thinks he can achieve things and contribute at Old Trafford.”

Van Persie may not have hit the goal-scoring heights of his debut campaign at United but he still has the natural instincts and experience to be a very important player next season.

In other news, German newspaper Bild is reporting that alleged United target Ilkay Gundogan is also wanted by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Bayern have signed many of Borussia Dortmund’s top talents in recent times so could Gundogan be next?

The news follows hot on the heels of Dortmund’s denial that any deal with United had been done, as reported by Eurosport.
